Blended to an age-old recipe. Captain Morgan is the product of Caribbean sugar cane; its dark colour and rounded caramel and vanilla notes making it deliciously recognisable. After being triple distilled, Captain Morgan is matured in charred American oak barrels that help to create its distinctive dark qualities, rich layers of flavour and harmonious blend of clove and caramel notes.
The rum was initially produced at the Long Pond distillery in Jamaica, where Seagrams discovered a recipe for a spiced rum created by Levy Brothers, a pharmacy. The brand expanded its product line beyond the original spiced rum, including white rum, dark rum, and various flavored rums like coconut, pineapple, and grapefruit. In 2001, Diageo acquired the Captain Morgan brand, which has further solidified its position as a global rum leader.
