The Riesling grapes used to make Dr L come exclusively from traditional vineyards with steep slopes and slate soils. The best vineyard sites are close to the River Mosel: the water keeps the air warm and often reflects sunlight onto the vines. Fresh and light with the classic Mosel raciness, it shows citrus fruits such as grapefruit and lime with mineral notes and a touch of spritz on the finish.

Dr Loosen is based just outside Bernkastel in the Mosel region of Germany. Headed by wine personality Ernst Ernie Loosen, the company is easily one of Germanys most famous Riesling producers, and has won numerous awards for many of its wines. Ernie Loosen, who has been in charge since 1988, was Decanter Magazines Man of the Year in 2005 and one of the worlds most influential winemakers.
